PROGRAM NOTES

​

The Dandelion Field is an homage to traditional, patriotic military tunes found within a
nation’s musical history. Inspired by the indescribable feeling when homeward-bound,
The Dandelion Field represents a place of belonging found deep within the heart. The
piece starts with the Horn depicting a calling theme to set the mood/timbre of the
piece.

 

As the piece slowly unfolds, one instrument is added at a time, as each “soldier”
begins making their way back to their own dandelion field. As the piece picks up in
movement and intensity, eventually leading to a climatic revelation, the calling theme
returns one more, serving as a reminder for the soldiers of what they’re fighting for.
